Anthony Bourdain visits Pinas.

December 18th, 2009

So did you watch it?

I am talking about the Anthony Bourdain No Reservations show last night, which featured some delicacies from the Philippines that made me starve at midnight!

The show made me want to come home immediately and have lechon and sisig asap! DH and I are truly Pork fanatics. Our eyes would be teary-eyed and we would have close to rhinitis when I grill pork or spareribs as our meal, rhinitis and teary-eyed are what we manifest when we uber-like our meals. Hence, it is impossible for me to be a Vegan Convert! Just impossible. If you have not see the show, you can see the preview below and I bet they’d have the whole show in YouTube soon. Also, Anthony Bourdain ranks Philippines as #1, pork-wise: (read about his thoughts on the show HERE.

#1. Philippines
#2. Bali
#3. Puerto Rico

relaxed week

December 14th, 2009

This is going to be a relaxed week for me, I just wish I have the urge to focus on myself and slowly lose weight as desired. I have been thinking of spending some time in our walk-in tubs. You see, a dip in those tubs gives me the most relaxing spirit.

Speaking of walk-in tubs, you have to visit their site for their newly added seven unique models of walk-in bathtubs from dealers in the United States, Canada, and Australia. All of their products are ADA-compliant. They also have a good information on their fastest walk in bath. Most of their taps are 50% larger and everything has drains. Walk-in tubs are said to be one of the best tubs these days because of the durability and comfort one can experience when dipping on it. Which reminds me to ask photos from my brother because when they had our house renovated, they ordered these tubs from SeaBridgeBathing.com. I will update this entry once I have the photos.

one more time.

…just because I think I am having a very delayed quarter-life crisis

“A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
enough money within her control to move out and rent a place of her own even if she never wants to or needs to…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
something perfect to wear if the employer or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
a youth she’s content to leave behind….
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
a past juicy enough that she’s looking forward to retelling it in her old age….
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …..
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
one friend who always makes her laugh… and one who lets her cry…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a recipe for a meal that will make her guests feel honored…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
a feeling of control over her destiny…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
how to fall in love without losing herself..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
HOW TO QUIT A JOB, BREAK UP WITH A LOVER, AND CONFRONT A FRIEND WITHOUT RUINING THE FRIENDSHIP…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
when to try harder… and WHEN TO WALK AWAY…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
that she can’t change the length of her calves, the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
that her childhood may not have been perfect…but it’s over…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
what she would and wouldn’t do for love or more…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
how to live alone… even if she doesn’t like it…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
whom she can trust, whom she can’t, and why she shouldn’t take it personally…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
where to go… be it to her best friend’s kitchen table…or a charming inn in the woods…
when her soul needs soothing…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
what she can and can’t accomplish in a day… a month…and a year…”

T.Y.

December 9th, 2009

I cannot begin how to thank everyone who remembered my day :) . I was overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and greetings from friends and relatives abroad and back home. Even if I did not send out party invitations (because I ain’t got any party), it was like I attended a huge surprise party. Again, thank you! You know who you are, I am still sending out Thank You messages in FB, I want to personally thank each one of you. An Aunt of mine commented that I am Ms. Congeniality because of the long birthday greetings in my wall hee hee. I was really overwhelmed. Thanks for remembering and for making my day extra special. xoxo.

Muchas Gracias! Merci Beaucoup. Salamat po!1246153625873241

Monitor you Child’s TV Viewing.

December 6th, 2009

Here’s sharing some good tips on how we could monitor our children’s tv viewing.

• Limit the amount of TV your child watches. More than two hours a day is too much. To make it seem to your child that he’s watching more — and to keep his little brain from going on autopilot as he watches — break up viewing into ten- to 15-minute increments. You should also keep the television out of your child’s bedroom and turned off during mealtimes.

• Avoid setting a firm TV time “allowance” for your child. This seems counterintuitive, but it’s surprisingly effective. You may want to let your child come to you when he wants to watch and keep to yourself what the absolute maximum is. That way, you’ll avoid tacitly sending the message that there’s a certain amount he “should” be watching.

• Make television physically inconvenient. Too often, television is a backdrop to family life: It blares away in the den or great room while the kids are playing, Mom’s cooking, or the family is eating. Consider putting the TV in a small, out-of-the-way room in the house (on the second floor, if you have one). Another way to keep the TV from being front and center: Keep it in a cabinet that remains closed when the TV is off.
