scaredy cat.

May 1st, 2010

Oh Man, I am one scaredy cat now. A Job offer is waiting for me and I do not even know if I am ready for it, worst to put DS to a fulltime Daycare. Ahh, the perils of being with him for quite a long time. But what makes me really scared is the responsibilities that entail with the job description. It is one tough post but very promising. I think I just have to take that one huge leap and move forward. Whoever says that beginnings are easy, they always come out to be the hardest part of the process.

Now, I have to stop myself from munching (literally!) over this stressful ordeal.

and then some…

May 1st, 2010

I got this full list of 50 Fabulous Ways to Save Money from a dear blogger friend. While the list is a long one and raises quite realistic pointers, I posted below some of  the doable items list which I could really incorporate with my daily life. I must take my savings very seriously, I have done too much shopping for the 1st quarter of the year and I have got to stop looking and stop buying. We made a huge decision yesterday that concerns DS. We are putting him in a full-private Pre-K school for the whole of the Summer Season in preparation for his Kindergarten. It will take a lot in our monthly budget, hence, serious tightening of belt is a must. Hmmm, do you think I can do this? Absolutely! I have to focus on my job hunting and once I have a fulltime job plus this booming online sideline, then I can resume my love for shopping again. But while I do not have anything stable yet, I must save and tighten my belt.

  • Balance your checkbook… avoid bank fees.
  • Empty your spare change in to a jar.
  • Eat out less often.
  • Purchase gifts throughout the year and store them.
  • Turn off the water when not in use.
  • Distinguish between your wants and needs.
  • Purchase fewer “trendy” items that need to be replaced each year.
  • Pay your bills on time… avoid late fees.
  • Track your spending.
  • Use Coupons.
  • Pay off your credit cards… avoid interest fees.
  • Empty your fridge before shopping again.
  • Stick to a budget.
  • Turn off unused lights.
  • Grocery shop on a full stomach.
  • Maintain excellent credit… avoid higher interest rates.
  • Exercise outside vs. the gym.
  • Avoid shopping when feeling emotional.
  • Grocery shop with a list and stick to it!
  • Simplify! Need or want less…
  • Purchase store brands or generics.
  • Make conscious spending decisions vs. autopilot choices.
  • Pay your savings first.
  • Accept “hand me downs”.
  • Organize your receipts and warranties so you can find them.

the list.

March 18th, 2010

I tell you, I am such a slacker when it comes to completing my To Do List E.V.E.R.Y.S.I.N.G.L.E.D.A.Y. I have totally changed since I got pregnant, I started to be tardy wherein I was always on time at work, and I began a bad habit of procrastination. Yikes! Although, at the end of everyday, I am surprised by how much work and tasks I have completed. There are also accomplishments I cannot believe I could do. Even with an iPhone, a Moleskin notebook (for my daily notes and to dos) and a classic organizer, I am always catching up with time. Can you please see if my To-Do list isn’t doable? here is what I need to accomplish today:

  • Research extensively on these KVM switches as my Aunt-in-Law needs to install a few monitors in her shop.
  • Write at least 30 articles.
  • Cook Dinner.
  • Review for my driving test.
  • Review DS for their drama class.
  • Complete forms for work.
  • Calls, calls, calls.

Oh and yes, it’s almost 4pm and I still need to complete above list. Doable or not? Let me know what you think :P .

W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G.

March 5th, 2010

I am the type of person who has not pretentions. Albeit a few times where I have to show a smiling face despite the hurdles I have been encountering for that particular moment. So yes, I am a WYSIWYG gal, what-you-see-is-what-you-get. Blogging-wise, I am inspired and will open up a lot in my entries when I am happy and when I’m not, it’s either my posts are full of rants or I am simply uninterested, hence meaningless entries. For the past weeks, I lost my blogging mojo, sleep has been very elusive and I was on my lowest point. Thanks to our Samsung HDTV for the constant entertainment I got from watching my favorite TV shows. At least for a few moment, I was entertained and was in a different world.

After a series of long convo with DH, DM, and DB, I am back to my senses :P . I was quick to be back to reality and that despite reality being hurtful and biting me from time to time, I should keep moving forward and keep blogging. After all, this is one of the things I love doing.

zoo stop

December 22nd, 2009

I have so many things to share but this week’s unusually busy for me.

The highlight of this week is my son’s 4th birthday and because DH and I are super busy this week, we opted to celebrate his birthday according to how he wants instead of a birthday party (read: Zoo, Museum, Arcades, Theme Parks etc… hee hee), but schedule will be dictated by us :) . Obviously, we cannot celebrate his birthday on his birthday itself , so we started today by bringing him to a bigger zoo he never visited yet. He was so happy and got to feed some animals too.

I realized that since I am always behind the lens, I never get decent photos whenever we go out. Maybe all moms are like that. So today, my boys were kind enough to take photos of me with DH and DS, taken by both of them.

Thanks for checking!

fire proof your kids

December 22nd, 2009

Wow, it’s been a while since I wrote some of DS’s antics. He sure does continue to entertain us with his growing vocabulary and funny antics, but I always get preoccupied with other blogging stuff before I get to blog them. Maybe, I should keep a tab next time.

Anyways, FIREPROOF is a movie which was highly promoted in our church during the week of Valentines. They even gave out free movie tickets and offered to babysat our kiddos so the couples can have their alone moments. Anyways, DH opted to rent out the DVD and we watched it almost a week before Valentines. While watching the movie, DS blurted out during the couple fights scenes,

“NOT AGAIN, FIGHTING AND FIGHTING, WHY CAN’T THEY BE BESTFRIENDS MOM?” LOL!

Then when the husband finally got the divorce papers from his wife, he cried.

Mini-S said: DO NOT CRY, IT’S OK BUY A NEW PAPER!!!

Also, I think my son now has the very concept of a romantic relationship uh-oh! One time, he went home from his gym class and told me that he has a girlfriend!!! He refers to the only girl in his class as his “girlfriend” or “that’s my girl!” yikes! But the sweetest thing of all was when he told me that his classmate, Jonathan is his bestfriend and he would often tell us:

“Jonathan and I will save each other, We’re Bestfriends mom!”
(uhm save from what ethan? lol!)

Hee hee.

And guess what he was doing in the picture? He was trying to operate his dad’s heart. He wants to be a heart surgeon! :) )))

Nice Mommy Sites.

December 20th, 2009

No one ever says that Mommyhood is an easy-peasy and breezy job. More so, if you are a super hands-on and stay-at-home Mom. One can be very sensitive when you hear comments about how you raise your kids, right?

While most conservative mothers would say that all it takes is our gutfeel and less of what the books say, I still believe that reading Mommy books, web forums and advices from our support groups can contribute to our being a good mother.

They say that There is NO WAY to be a perfect mother and 1 million ways to become a good one.

he saves a cat!

December 18th, 2009

Another milestone for our ever-adventurous and inquisitive 3-year old.

For many days now, DS has been telling me that there is an ‘alone cat’ in our neighbor’s house. You see, he gets to walk in the patio every morning while I watch him from the inside. Until one day, I asked a maintenance staff to check on our garbage disposal. As usual, DS was so inquisitive and talkative that he kept telling the staff that there is an ‘alone cat’ in the neighbor’s house. The staff was forced to knock the sliding door of our neighbor. True enough, I heard a purring cat or kitten! DH who was here, was asked by the staff if he knew about our neighbor. He only said that he had not been seeing anyone there, nor a car parked outside of their unit for several days now. Apparently, the cat was left inside without anyone to feed him. After a while we learned that the cat was starved for 3 weeks already and the management took custody of him until the owners are back.

DS was too proud to tell me: ‘SEE MOM, E SAVES THE CAT!

Oh yes, I guess he did :)

moral of the story: Always listen and believe in your kids, they never lie, at least at 3! Teehee.
